On the evening of December 12, 2015, Kim and her 2 young girls were looking at Christmas Lights when they got into a car accident. Kim and her oldest daughter Maddy were severely injured in the accident. Kim had a lacerated liver as well as other internal injuries. Maddy’s injures were more severe. She had a fractured skull, swelling of the brain, shattered cheekbone, 32 stitches in her beautiful face, a punctured lung, broken ribs and a ruptured spleen. Kim is a single mom, who is looking after her 2 small girls and her mom (who is a transplant recipient and unable to work herself). On top of everything else, Kim was also recently diagnosed with both skin cancer and a rare blood disorder which has required blood transfusions to try and get her iron levels up, which after 2 months of treatments has had limited success. She is scheduled for surgery in February 2016 to remove the skin cancer
