Laurie is a single mom who was diagnosed with esophageal and stomach cancer. After experiencing several months of pain the cancer was determined to be stage 3. Five weeks of chemo and radiation followed by six – eight weeks of recovery, followed by an intense surgery is what Laurie has been experiencing and has yet to experience. There will be a very long recovery ahead after surgery. Laurie is self-employed and unable to work due to the illness.
