“Grace is a beautiful 10-year-old girl who sustained a concussion Apr. 27, 2016 while playing. Two weeks later she ended up in severe pain, lost her ability to walk, became incontinent, was not able to feed herself and was not able to stay awake; it was very difficult to rouse her. Numerous trips to urgent care, then to the Alberta Children’s Hospital, only to be prescribed stronger medications. After one such dose Grace lost her sight and hearing as well. Grace’s mom Linda has spent 6 years completing online studies towards her RN. Linda – just after Grace’s accident – had finally completed all of the theory towards her RN, and has 2 practicums left. Linda almost did not start her second last practicum because of Grace’s condition. But Grace has improved, she regained her hearing and sight, but not the ability to walk, or feed herself. She does stay awake longer periods, but falls asleep mid sentence at times. Grace has a 3-year-old brother, and a wonderful father that is doing the Mr. Mom duties while Linda is completing her second last practicum. This is such a stressful time for them all, and any assistance would be so uplifting.”
